New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) BJP leader Amit Malviya criticized Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday for expressing skepticism about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar, asserting that the RJD leader's suggestions of a potential boycott of the Assembly elections signify a retreat in desperation and an acceptance of defeat.
As the BJP's IT cell chief, Malviya shared on X, “With just four days remaining, over 98 percent of the voter revision process has been accomplished. This represents a significant setback for Tejashwi and Rahul Gandhi.”
“Tejashwi Yadav's inclination towards boycotting the elections illustrates his acknowledgment that the voters of Bihar have entirely dismissed his campaign against SIR,” Malviya stated.
“There is a saying, ‘As soon as the head is shaved, hail falls.’ With two to three months left before the elections, Tejashwi, sensing his diminishing support, has already begun to withdraw in desperation,” he added.
Malviya further criticized the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, remarking, “Previously, Tejashwi boycotted the voter revision, believing the people of Bihar would rally behind him. However, the reality was quite the opposite - the populace is excitedly engaging in this SIR festival of democracy.”
With just a few days remaining, more than 98 percent of the voter revision work has been finalized, marking a substantial blow to both Tejashwi and Rahul Gandhi, he emphasized.
“Their efforts have proven fruitless. Not a single voter from Bihar has supported them in their campaign against SIR. This is a clear indication that Tejashwi and Rahul are amplifying an unfounded issue,” he asserted.
Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav hinted at the potential for a boycott of the forthcoming Assembly elections in response to a supposed “deliberate” disenfranchisement of voters.
“If elections are not conducted honestly, why are we holding elections? The electoral process has been compromised,” Yadav stated in Patna.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader claimed that under the pretense of revising the voter list, the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) are collaborating to eliminate opposition voters rather than enhancing the democratic framework.
On Thursday afternoon, the student faction of Congress -- the National Students’ Union of India -- clashed with law enforcement in Patna while protesting alleged irregularities in SIR.
In Delhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accused the ECI of failing in its responsibilities and labeled it a “serious issue.”
Gandhi warned that officials from the poll panel cannot evade accountability for lapses as “we are coming for you.”
While refraining from addressing media inquiries about the potential boycott of the Bihar Assembly elections, Gandhi criticized the ECI, stating, “Today they made a statement, and this is complete nonsense. The reality is that the ECI is not fulfilling its duties.”
