New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Amid the uproar and heated debate between the ruling party and the Opposition over the Waqf Amendment Bill on Wednesday, the Lok Sabha experienced some lighter moments between Home Minister Amit Shah and SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

Both leaders exchanged jabs regarding their respective party presidents, managing to keep smiles on their faces during the banter, thus lightening the atmosphere.

The ‘jibe war’ commenced when the SP supremo stood up in the Lok Sabha to voice his objections and arguments regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. While criticizing the BJP and the Centre for the perceived discriminatory amendments within the legislation, he pointed out that the party claiming to be the world’s largest hasn’t managed to conduct elections for its party president.

Home Minister Amit Shah swiftly responded to the SP supremo’s remarks concerning the party president.

“For parties managed by families, selecting their presidents is relatively easy. However, the BJP, with its over 12 crore party workers, performs a comprehensive exercise to elect its leader,” the Union Home Minister stated.

Continuing to criticize dynasty and family-oriented parties in the House, seemingly alluding to the grand old party and others, Amit Shah directed a pointed remark at Akhilesh Yadav, saying, “You will remain party president for the next 25 years.”

Amit Shah’s direct comment left the SP president embarrassed, prompting him to shift his focus to other issues to criticize the government.

Akhilesh Yadav accused the Centre of targeting the Muslim community by introducing controversial amendments in the Waqf Bill, claiming it deprives them of their ownership rights.

He further remarked, “There is an internal competition among BJP leaders to demonstrate who is the ‘worst Hindu’ and stated that this was an attempt to gain support from a specific community.
