New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate the “Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in Dairy Sector” on Monday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The workshop is designed to tackle significant challenges associated with sustainable dairy farming and the incorporation of circularity principles within the sector. It will emphasize policies and initiatives spearheaded by the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying to foster environmentally sound dairy practices while ensuring economic advancement.
Circularity, an essential economic notion, centers around the reuse, regeneration, and recycling of resources to reduce waste and enhance the utilization of available materials. The event is anticipated to showcase how circular methodologies can bolster the sustainability of the dairy sector and aid in environmental conservation.
An official announcement from the Ministry of Cooperation stated, "Experts from NDDB, the industry, and international organizations will discuss methods to broaden circular dairy practices, investigate funding options, carbon credit possibilities, and waste-to-energy strategies, and underscore the significance of advanced technology in improving dairy farming effectiveness. The pursuit of sustainability and circularity in the dairy sector, alongside heightened efficiency, will contribute to the realization of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperation)."
A notable aspect of the workshop will be the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the creation of biogas plants across various states. These biogas facilities will facilitate the recycling of dairy waste, converting it into biogas, compressed biogas (CBG), and organic fertilizers, thereby promoting both sustainable waste management and energy generation.
Furthermore, the workshop will unveil new guidelines aimed at encouraging environmentally responsible dairy farming practices.
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, along with Union Ministers of State for the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and Shri George Kurian, will be present.
Additionally, Ms. Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, along with senior officials from ministries such as New and Renewable Energy, Forest and Climate Change, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Jal Shakti, will also participate.
