Guwahati, March 16 (NationPress) An international drug trafficking operation was dismantled by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Guwahati and Imphal, as announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday. He asserted that there would be no mercy for drug cartels.
In this operation, narcotics valued at ₹88 crore were confiscated, leading to the arrest of four individuals.
HM Shah shared on his X handle, “No mercy for drug cartels. Accelerating the Modi government’s mission to create a drug-free Bharat, a significant haul of methamphetamine tablets worth ₹88 crore has been seized, and four members of the international drug cartel apprehended in the Imphal and Guwahati regions.”
Commending the efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau, he noted, “The drug seizure is a testament to our effective strategy that encompasses both bottom-to-top and top-to-bottom approaches in investigation. Our pursuit of drugs continues. Heartfelt congratulations to the NCB team.”
On Saturday, the Home Minister inaugurated the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Degaon, Assam, marking a pivotal advancement in enhancing law enforcement infrastructure in the northeastern region.
This academy, named after the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan, is designed to provide comprehensive training to police personnel while celebrating the rich history and valor of Assam’s iconic warrior.
During the inauguration, Amit Shah lauded the legacy of Lachit Barphukan, emphasizing his remarkable leadership during the Battle of Saraighat against the Mughal forces in 1671.
HM Shah stressed that the academy’s name represents courage, dedication, and the spirit of selfless service. While addressing attendees, he remarked, “Lachit Barphukan’s valor serves as an inspiration for all Indians. By dedicating this police academy to his name, we ensure that future generations of police personnel embrace his values of patriotism and integrity.”
The newly established Lachit Barphukan Police Academy is outfitted with modern facilities to support advanced police training programs.
It features state-of-the-art classrooms for theoretical learning, along with simulated environments for practical training in law enforcement scenarios. The academy also includes fitness and combat training zones to enhance agility and endurance, as well as cybercrime and forensic labs to equip officers with the skills needed to tackle modern criminal activities.
