Anil Vij Responds to Rahul Gandhi's Criticism Regarding Farmers' Issues, Defends BJP's Achievements

Ambala, Dec 8 (NationPress) In a pointed rebuttal to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s criticism regarding the use of tear gas on protesting farmers, Haryana’s Transport Minister Anil Vij on Sunday scrutinized Congress' contribution to the current challenges faced by farmers, asserting that it was the prolonged governance of Congress that resulted in this predicament.
While addressing the media, Vij took issue with Gandhi’s demands for the government to concede to farmers' requests, including establishing a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), highlighting the historical governance of Congress.
“It took a long time to comprehend. Congress ruled for approximately fifty to sixty years. What actions did they take for the farmers? Why do farmers find themselves in this situation today?” Vij inquired.
He further stated, “Who is accountable for this? If any beneficial actions were taken for farmers, we could argue that Congress developed it and BJP took it away. However, BJP is actively supporting farmers, as we provided MSP for all crops in Haryana.”
Vij also noted that the Congress administration, during its tenure, neglected to tackle the issues faced by farmers.
“Congress was incapable of providing when they were in power. Now, mere promises without action are futile; they could have resolved farmers' problems,” he emphasized, standing by the BJP’s record of offering MSP for 24 crops in Haryana without farmers needing to petition.
The minister also addressed criticisms from Sirsa MP Kumari Selja regarding the BJP government’s failure to fulfill commitments made to farmers.
Vij asserted, “Concerning Haryana, we provided MSP on 24 crops without them asking.”
In his critique of Gandhi's recent comments about a potential new GST tax slab, Vij declared it groundless, accusing the Congress leader of inciting unnecessary alarm.
“Rahul Gandhi seems to have envisioned such an occurrence. What evidence supports your claim that it will be increased? It appears that Rahul Gandhi aims to provoke the nation and instigate instability with new narratives,” he stated.
Vij's remarks further intensify the ongoing exchange of criticisms between BJP and Congress regarding their management of farmers' concerns and broader economic strategies.
