Annamalai vows to remain barefoot until DMK's reign in Tamil Nadu concludes

Chennai, Dec 27 (NationPress) The President of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, K. Annamalai, has expressed his disdain for the DMK, stating that he will refrain from wearing footwear and will walk barefoot until the DMK is no longer in control of the state.
During a press conference in Coimbatore on Thursday, he accused the DMK administration of the worsening law and order conditions in Tamil Nadu.
BJP leader Annamalai also announced his plan to observe a 48-day fast and visit all six sacred sites dedicated to Lord Murugan.
He criticized the state police for allegedly leaking the FIR regarding a sexual assault case at Anna University, claiming that this breach was deliberate and resulted in the identification of a 19-year-old victim, who is also an engineering student.
Annamalai asserted that the suspect, Gnanashekaran, was not listed among known offenders in Tamil Nadu despite his involvement in multiple criminal activities.
He suggested that this oversight occurred due to Gnanashekaran's connections with DMK officials.
The Tamil Nadu BJP President, who previously served as an IPS officer, provided evidence linking the accused to the DMK.
He further contended that the DMK is attempting to distract from the deteriorating law and order situation by fabricating a narrative about a North-South divide.
A roadside biriyani vendor, Gnanashekaran, was taken into custody by Chennai police for the alleged rape of an Anna University student.
According to the police report, the incident transpired while the victim and her male friend were in a secluded section of the campus after attending a midnight Christmas mass.
The accused violently attacked the male companion before dragging the girl to a nearby bush and assaulting her.
The Greater Chennai Police have faced significant backlash following this incident.
Authorities had previously assured the public of comprehensive security measures for Christmas, deploying over 8,000 officers.
This shocking event has intensified ongoing critiques of the DMK government's handling of law and order.
Another case involves a third-year college student with mental health challenges, who was reportedly raped by a group of 10 men over a span of 10 months, resulting in the arrest of four suspects thus far.
The case emerged after the victim's father, a single parent employed as a load man, lodged a complaint with the Chintadripet All Women police station, which was later moved to Egmore police station.
Upon discovering explicit material on his daughter’s phone, he confronted her.
Initially reluctant to speak, the girl eventually disclosed the repeated assaults by a group of men who took her to various lodges and isolated locations.
Based on her testimony, police have filed charges under nine sections, including those concerning the rape of individuals with mental or physical disabilities and kidnapping.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the survivor met three of the alleged perpetrators through a mutual friend in college last October.
The men reportedly assaulted her at several locations, with additional claims of abuse from others she encountered via a social media platform.
