Imphal, Nov 5 (NationPress) – In a significant operation, security forces have successfully recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Manipur, while also apprehending two interstate drug traffickers and confiscating 2 kg of brown sugar valued at over Rs 1 crore within the last 24 hours, as reported by officials on Wednesday.
According to an official statement, the security forces, comprising the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), conducted joint operations in the districts of Imphal East and Thoubal. The seized arms include a foreign-manufactured M16 rifle, an SBBL PAG, two .22 rifles, six 9 mm pistols along with a magazine for each, and a repeater gun.
The cache of ammunition recovered consists of five grenades, two detonators, and various cartridges of differing calibres.
In a related incident, the Manipur Police arrested two interstate drug peddlers, identified as Mohammad Mustakim, age 28, and Umar Khan, age 30, both from Thoubal district, along with approximately 2 kg of brown sugar in the Sekmai Pangaltabi area of Imphal West.
Security forces are intensifying their efforts against militant activities, conducting search operations and maintaining a strong presence in vulnerable areas across districts.
