Imphal, July 17 (NationPress) On Thursday, high-ranking Army officials provided a briefing to Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla regarding the current security landscape in the state and the broader northeastern region. A Raj Bhavan representative stated that the meeting focused on the security conditions in Manipur, which has been under President’s Rule since February 13, following the resignation of N. Biren Singh from his position as Chief Minister.
Among those present were General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC Spear Corps, Lt. Gen. Abhijit S Pendharkar, and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, who attended the meeting at Raj Bhavan.
During this meeting, the Eastern Command chief provided insights to the Governor about the preparations for the upcoming 134th edition of Durand Cup 2025.
This prestigious tournament is set to take place from July 23 to August 23 across five Indian cities: Imphal, Shillong, Kokrajhar, Kolkata, and Jamshedpur.
In Imphal, six group stage matches will occur at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, starting from July 30 through August 12.
On July 10, the Manipur Governor officiated at the trophy showcase ceremony for the Durand Cup 2025, held at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
