Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane on Thursday demanded the arrest and interrogation of Shiv Sena(UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray in connection with the Disha Salian death case.
Disha Salian, who was a former manager of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, allegedly fell from the 14th floor of an apartment building on June 8, 2020, in Malad, resulting in her death, as reported in an Accidental Death Report by the Mumbai Police. Six days later, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh was found dead in his Bandra residence, which was initially deemed a suicide but was later handed over to the CBI for further investigation.
Rane's demand follows allegations made by Disha's father in a petition, claiming that his daughter was gang-raped and murdered. The petition also requests the court to file an FIR against Aditya Thackeray and transfer the investigation to the CBI.
Rane stated, “This is a very straightforward case. Why is Aditya Thackeray being protected? If he is innocent, why is he avoiding this situation?” He added, “There was a Supreme Court ruling which mandates that if someone is accused of rape, a case must be registered against them. Following that, a case should be filed against Aditya Thackeray, and he should be taken into custody for questioning. Justice should be equally applied to him as it is to others named in this case.”
“Whether it’s Aditya Thackeray, Suraj Pancholi, or Dino Morea, they need to be investigated. If they are innocent, the investigation will prove it. If Aditya Thackeray believes this was a suicide and he is being falsely implicated, then he should cooperate with the investigation, provide evidence, and clear his name,” he continued.
In response to Shiv Sena(UBT) MP Sanjay Raut questioning the timing of the petition, Rane remarked, “Over the past five years, Aditya Thackeray, the son of the former Chief Minister of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (Uddhav Thackeray), has been implicated in this case. Disha Salian's father has expressed the immense pressure he faced regarding this situation, claiming there were attempts to silence him.”
Rane further questioned, “Why did Kishori Pednekar (the former mayor named in the petition) visit his home?”
Rane emphasized that all politicians should distance themselves from this issue, as a girl was gang-raped and murdered. “We demand justice for her, and that's our primary stance,” he stressed.
“Disha Salian's father is not involved in politics; he has presented his case to the court. Many individuals are monitoring this situation. Disha's father believes that his daughter did not take her own life and that there was foul play involved; she was murdered,” Rane reiterated, asserting the necessity of a thorough investigation.
