Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh claimed on Thursday that the renewed attention on the Disha Salian case is part of a political conspiracy.
This statement followed a petition by Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, who approached the Bombay High Court requesting a fresh investigation into his daughter's death. He also sought the registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
In response to this development, Deshmukh remarked, "I am gathering information regarding the statement made by Disha Salian's father in the earlier petition. I have requested a copy of it."
"The manner in which this issue has re-emerged suggests a political conspiracy," he added.
Disha Salian, the former manager of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, passed away under mysterious circumstances in June 2020.
Satish Salian has urged the Bombay HC to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), alleging that his daughter was brutally raped and murdered.
He further asserted that there was a political cover-up designed to protect certain influential individuals.
Disha died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad.
The Mumbai Police initially recorded an Accidental Death Report (ADR). However, just six days later, on June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment. The police initially labeled it a suicide, but the case was later transferred to the CBI.
According to Satish Salian's plea, the police investigation into his daughter's death was merely a cover-up.
The petition stated that the Mumbai Police "hastily closed the case as either suicide or accidental death without taking forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness testimonies into account."
