Assam Chief Minister Assures Peace for Hindus in Bangladesh via Diplomatic Efforts

Bhubaneswar, Dec 12 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Thursday that he has full faith that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will guarantee the safety of minority Hindus in the neighboring nation of Bangladesh through diplomatic dialogue.
Speaking to reporters after his visit to the renowned Jagannath temple in Puri, CM Sarma condemned the current situation for Hindus in Bangladesh, calling it unacceptable and a significant concern. He highlighted the protection of minorities in India, contrasting it with the plight of Hindus and other minority groups in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He expressed his assurance that PM Modi will advocate for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh through diplomatic means.
Additionally, Sarma mentioned that the Indian government stands in solidarity with the Hindus in Bangladesh.
He pointed out that PM Modi has recently dispatched Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to Dhaka for diplomatic discussions.
CM Sarma expressed optimism that PM Modi's diplomatic efforts would foster peace in Bangladesh.
In response to a question regarding the opposition's silence on this issue, the Chief Minister accused the Congress and its allies of never supporting Hindus.
He further claimed that opposition parties are responsible for the instability within India.
Moreover, CM Sarma noted that the Assam Police, CRPF, and BSF are diligently working to prevent the illegal migration of Bangladeshis into India.
However, he stressed that the problem of illegal immigration from Bangladesh cannot be effectively resolved without cooperation from the West Bengal government.
He advocated for the nationwide implementation of the NRC to combat illegal infiltration.
"I believe there should be a nationwide NRC. Yesterday, we decided in Assam that anyone applying for an Aadhaar card must have their name in the NRC. Through NRC, we can easily identify who is an intruder and who is an Indian," CM Sarma stated.
He also supported the implementation of the 'One Nation, One Poll' initiative across the country.
"'One Nation, One Election' should be enacted. If the report from Ramnath Kovind is approved, we can hold a single election for both the Centre and states by 2029. This proposal needs to be passed in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha with a two-thirds majority, and I am confident that the Prime Minister will accomplish this," asserted CM Sarma.
The senior BJP leader also claimed that the BJP government in Odisha is functioning effectively and will maintain power for the next 50 years.
