Guwahati, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday commended India's remarkable food grain production, labeling it a “historic milestone” that showcases the strength of the nation’s agricultural sector and the government’s unwavering commitment to reforming agriculture.

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comments during the recent 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast, CM Sarma stated that the Prime Minister's message emphasizes the evolving nature of Indian agriculture, which is progressively adopting advanced, technology-driven, and climate-resilient farming methods.

“India’s record food grain yield is indeed a historic moment, and the message from Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji in Mann Ki Baat highlights its importance. This achievement reflects the determination of our farmers and the ongoing transition towards smarter and more robust agricultural practices,” the Chief Minister shared on X.

He pointed out that this accomplishment transcends mere numbers; it illustrates a shift in the mindset of farmers who are increasingly integrating innovation, modern crop management strategies, and government-supported systems.

Furthermore, he noted that this transformation is evident across various states, including Assam, where farmers are implementing scientific techniques, utilizing better seed varieties, and enhancing water management practices.

Earlier in his monthly radio address, Prime Minister Modi praised India’s escalating agricultural output and commended farmers for achieving record production levels despite global disruptions and climate challenges.

He stressed the necessity of improving access to technology, endorsing natural farming methods, and fortifying food security for future generations.

CM Sarma expressed that the Prime Minister’s remarks would motivate farmers and agricultural institutions to sustain their progress. He observed that increased productivity, greater diversification, and improved rural infrastructure investments have collectively strengthened India’s agricultural sector in recent times.

The Chief Minister reiterated the Assam government’s dedication to aligning with national objectives to bolster food security and enhance farmer welfare. He mentioned that state-level initiatives focusing on irrigation, soil health, farmer collectives, and digital agriculture tools are being expanded to ensure long-term sustainability.

The latest figures for India’s food grain production, which officials declare as the highest output recorded to date, come amidst the Union government’s drive for broader adoption of resilient farming practices in response to unpredictable monsoons and climate challenges.
