Guwahati, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, held discussions on Tuesday with a prominent South Korean firm in the field of renewable energy generation, emphasizing the state's target of producing 3,000 MW of clean energy over the next five years.
In a post on X, Sarma noted, “I engaged extensively with Mr. Young Ha Ryu, the Vice President of GS Group, one of the largest companies in South Korea focusing on renewable and clean energy. We discussed Assam’s goal of achieving 3,000 MW of clean energy by 2030.
“We are very enthusiastic about collaborating with businesses that can assist us in reaching this objective and also in developing a skilled workforce to support our expanding renewable energy sector,” he added.
The Chief Minister concluded his three-day visit to South Korea today and is now headed to Tokyo, where he will meet various industry stakeholders for the forthcoming investment summit in Assam.
Sarma shared in his X post, “My trip to South Korea has yielded positive outcomes as we engaged in significant discussions with industry leaders from different sectors and invited them to partner with us during #AdvantageAssam2.
He also visited Pangyo Techno Valley in Seoul, recognized as South Korea’s Silicon Valley.
Sarma remarked, “Earlier in the day, I toured the Pangyo Techno Valley, a renowned hub for start-ups and entrepreneurs across various technological fields, including IT, biotech, and culture—all under one roof.”
The Chief Minister stated, “An environment that promotes such diverse collaboration leads to remarkable innovations. I also encountered talented Indian entrepreneurs. I am eager to facilitate partnerships between entrepreneurs and start-ups in Assam and Pangyo Techno Valley, and we will pursue this in the near future.”
The Advantage Assam investment summit is set to take place in Guwahati on February 25 and 26. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, which is expected to draw key industry figures from both India and abroad.
