New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday sought clarification from the BJP government, inquiring if they would honor their pledge of providing free LPG cylinders to women in Delhi on Holi or if it would simply be another unfulfilled election gimmick.

In a conversation with IANS, she stated, “I want to ask the BJP government and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta if they will keep their electoral promise of offering free cooking gas cylinders to women in Delhi during Holi, or will it turn out to be another gimmick like their promise of monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 to all women?”

The AAP leader highlighted that the BJP had previously promised to grant Rs 2,500 monthly to all women in Delhi, a commitment that Atishi argued had not been fulfilled.

With Holi approaching, Atishi stressed that women in Delhi were eagerly waiting to see if the BJP would deliver on its promise.

“Women are anticipating whether they will receive their free gas cylinders as assured by the BJP. If they don't, it will indicate that the free gas cylinder promise was merely another gimmick,” Atishi remarked.

As the Holi festival nears, Atishi has reported that women throughout Delhi are already protesting in various locations, holding empty cooking gas cylinders and demanding that the BJP fulfill its commitments.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Atishi raised concerns about the BJP's pre-election promise to provide free cooking gas cylinders to women in Delhi in celebration of Holi.

In response to the AAP's claims, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva defended his party's position, asserting that, unlike the AAP, the BJP does not make promises without ensuring appropriate financial planning.

The BJP, in its manifesto for the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, promised to supply cooking gas cylinders to women from economically weaker sections of society for Rs 500, along with two complimentary refills during Holi and Diwali.
