New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has apprehended a 22-year-old individual associated with the outlawed terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), who was sought in connection with a grenade assault in Punjab.
The suspect has been identified as Karanbir, also known as Karan, according to Amit Kaushik, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Special Cell/New Delhi Range.
Karanbir's arrest is linked to the grenade attack that occurred at the Police Station Quila Lal Singh in Punjab's Gurdaspur district back in April, as stated by the police on Sunday.
The apprehension took place in Gurdaspur, Punjab, under the Arms Act on Saturday.
In his confession, Karanbir admitted to his role in the grenade attack, stating he was in contact with an individual from Punjab who is currently abroad and orchestrating operations for BKI.
He also disclosed that he facilitated the accommodation of two individuals at his residence prior to the attack, who were responsible for launching the grenade at Police Station Qila Lal Singh.
Karanbir mentioned that his handler communicated instructions through social media applications to carry out criminal and terrorist activities.
He further revealed that he traveled to a West Asian nation in 2024 and received funds from his handler for executing the grenade attack.
Karanbir's brother, Gursewak, who was also implicated in the attack, has already been taken into custody. Karanbir's arrest was prompted by leads from Akashdeep, known as Bazz, from Amritsar, who is also a suspect in a case under the Arms Act.
