Bajrang Dal Urges Enforcement of Check-In Policies for Unmarried Couples in Oyo Hotels in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Bajrang Dal has presented a proposal to local authorities, requesting the enforcement of a rule that would prohibit check-ins for unmarried couples seeking rooms in Oyo hotels located in Bengaluru.
This proposal was submitted to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Tushar Girinath and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda on Wednesday.
A group of Bajrang Dal activists, led by former District Convenor Tejas A. Gowda, pushed for this initiative.
Such a rule has already been enacted in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh by Oyo.
Oyo has indicated that it plans to extend this rule to other cities across the country shortly. This decision follows petitions against providing accommodations for unmarried couples.
The Bajrang Dal has insisted that similar regulations should be enacted in Bengaluru.
Additionally, the petition requests that unmarried couples be denied rooms in homestays, lodges, service apartments, and other types of hotels.
Concerns have been expressed regarding the potential for unmarried couples to engage in inappropriate behavior, raising fears that such venues could become hotspots for illegal activities.
The Bajrang Dal has urged the BBMP and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to take their petition seriously.
Tejas A. Gowda, the District Convenor of Bajrang Dal, stated to the media that in areas considered the core of the city, such as Shantinagar, BTM Layout, Jayanagar, Bommanahalli, and their surroundings, boys and girls reside together in PGs under the guise of cohabitation.
He expressed, "Young girls and boys are permitted to stay together, which represents Western culture. We must oppose this cultural shift. Either they should reside in boys' PGs or girls' PGs. There is no cultural precedent in our country that allows such arrangements. Furthermore, it is likely that they have not obtained the necessary permissions from local authorities. Despite this, both the police and BBMP officials seem to be turning a blind eye to the situation," Gowda alleged.
This development is expected to ignite discussions throughout the state.
