Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 24 (NationPress) Abhishek Banerjee, the All-India General Secretary of Trinamool Congress, accused the BJP on Tuesday of attempting to intimidate Trinamool Congress Booth Level Agents (BLAs) through phone calls and monetary offers.
He asserted that the Election Commission has compromised the confidentiality of the Trinamool Congress BLAs' list, allowing it to fall into BJP's hands.
During a public meeting held in Pathar Pratima, located in the South 24 Parganas district, Banerjee stated, “The BLA-2 list for Trinamool Congress has been leaked to the BJP. Our list has been directly shared with the BJP by the Election Commission, and now we are receiving calls from their Delhi office.”
“They are making monetary offers, saying, ‘We will compensate you; work with us.’ I advise you: answer the calls. Accept the money, and negotiate! If they propose 2,000, ask for 5,000. If they offer five thousand, demand twenty thousand. Take their money, and ensure that the votes go to Trinamool.”
Banerjee initiated his campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections from Pathar Pratima.
While addressing the crowd, he set a clear goal to amplify the victory margin in this election.
“We need to secure a win with a margin exceeding 40,000 votes from this Assembly constituency,” he asserted.
Banerjee elaborated: “While other parties make promises, we offer pledges. The Trinamool Congress has ten core pledges. Our first pledge is ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ (Lakshmi’s Treasury). Our second promise is to ensure that every citizen receives a permanent, concrete house within the next five years, irrespective of any central government funding.”
“Our third pledge is to provide healthcare services at every doorstep. Each block will have a ‘Sevasray’ (care centre). Our fourth commitment is to guarantee purified drinking water access in every household. Lastly, our fifth pledge is to deliver an old-age pension to all senior citizens within five years upon returning to power.”
He directed his criticism towards the BJP, calling for their removal from Bengal.
“This election is a contest to remove the BJP. I assure you: we will reduce the BJP's seat count to below 50. On May 4, Mamata Banerjee’s government will be reinstated for a fourth term,” he concluded.
