Beneficiaries in Delhi Express Gratitude to PM Modi, Criticize AAP Government's Deceptions

New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) Reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge for 'Housing for All' and the BJP's commitment to providing each slum dweller in the national capital with a permanent (pucca) residence, numerous beneficiaries of this housing initiative launched by the Prime Minister expressed their thanks, while also denouncing the falsehoods propagated by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in light of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Recently, Prime Minister Modi visited the newly built flats for residents of the Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters established under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, which aims to enhance living conditions for the urban poor.

Prior to the inauguration, PM Modi toured the flats and engaged with beneficiaries, who conveyed their appreciation for the housing.

The Prime Minister expressed his delight at the improvements brought about by his government's housing initiative. This interaction showcased the significant positive changes in the lives of families who previously resided in slums and now have access to permanent homes.

BJP MP from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, Praveen Khandelwal, claimed that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his party associates are misleading the public regarding the provision of flats to slum dwellers in Delhi.

Khandelwal launched a fierce critique against AAP for disseminating misinformation about the BJP's efforts to provide permanent housing to slum dwellers in the city, asserting: “AAP is a machine of lies that misleads the citizens of Delhi. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and now Union Home Minister Amit Shah have made it abundantly clear that permanent homes will be offered to slum dwellers in Delhi. These homes have not appeared out of thin air but are part of an initiative launched by the Prime Minister, who has already allocated 1,675 pucca houses in the Ashok Vihar area of my Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency.”

Criticizing the AAP-led Delhi administration for its inability to provide housing for slum dwellers, Manoj Tiwari, the BJP MP from North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, stated: “Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the slum dwellers in Delhi, and a large gathering attended. Each word spoken by Amit Shah conveys a powerful message from the BJP to the citizens of Delhi, especially the impoverished and slum residents of the city.”

Local slum dweller, Manzoor Shah, shared with IANS: “I received the keys to my pucca house through Prime Minister Narendra Modi's housing initiative aimed at slum residents in the city. I hope others like me also receive their pucca homes soon. Arvind Kejriwal makes false claims; I still buy drinking water, as not a single drop from the pipelines installed by Kejriwal's AAP government has reached me. This is all a lie, as I continue to pay Rs 670 as my electricity bill despite promises of free electricity from the Delhi government.”

Another resident of Delhi, Savitri, expressed her joy to IANS: “I cannot fully express my happiness today. I am aware of the challenges I've faced until now, but PM Modi has provided me with a permanent residence under the housing scheme designed for individuals like me. I have encountered many difficulties in the slum colonies, but since receiving the keys to a permanent house, which is registered in my name, my family is very happy. I no longer need to rely on anyone for help, especially during the rains when the nearby drains overflow.”

She added: “I do not wish to comment on the lofty promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party. PM Modi has assured that neither he nor the BJP will allow anyone to remain without a pucca house any longer.”

Delhi slum dweller Rachna Singh shared with IANS: “I come from the Kalyanpuri area in Delhi, where many issues plague our slum colony. Firstly, we face a significant challenge in accessing clean drinking water. Ever since the Assembly elections commenced in Delhi, the electricity bills have skyrocketed. The drinking water is contaminated, leading to health issues among residents. The house promised to me by Arvind Kejriwal has yet to be delivered despite my receiving a certificate based on which I supported AAP. Kejriwal had assured us of housing for slum dwellers like me, but nothing has materialized to date.”

She further stated: “After ten years of Kejriwal's administration in Delhi, my family has placed our trust in him. Now, let’s give BJP a chance to prove themselves. The citizens of Delhi trusted AAP, yet ten years have passed without any development; they merely seek to influence voters through freebies. The AAP government has failed to meet its promises, while the BJP has delivered on its electoral commitments.”

Another resident, Aarti Sharma, told IANS: “Arvind Kejriwal consistently makes false promises. He has made numerous unfulfilled pledges to those of us living in slums. People like me have endured considerable hardship over the past five years. The water pipelines installed in my area are ineffective, as Kejriwal seeks support from individuals like me for votes. We will remind him about the water pipeline after the elections. I am exhausted from visiting the Chief Minister’s office for the past five years.”

Local resident Ashok Kumar remarked to IANS: “PM Narendra Modi has provided us with a pucca home, fulfilling his promise. While Arvind Kejriwal pledged a permanent residence to my family, I have yet to receive it in the last eleven years.”

He continued: “Since winning the 2020 Assembly election, Kejriwal has not once mentioned the provision of permanent housing for slum residents. However, PM Modi has already delivered on this electoral promise ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections on February 5. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that every slum inhabitant will receive a permanent home, and this has now been realized. The Prime Minister honors his commitments, while Arvind Kejriwal has failed to fulfill his promises, leading me to believe that the BJP will form the next government in Delhi.”
