Virendra Sachdeva Promises Housing for All Homeless in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva marked his birthday on Sunday by engaging with the community at the Nehru Camp located in the Patparganj constituency, as part of the BJP's outreach efforts to slum areas, where he pledged to provide a house for every homeless individual in the city.
At the gathering, accompanied by campaign coordinator Vishnu Mittal, he assured the attendees, stating: 'If the BJP assumes power, we will transform this Nehru Camp into a model slum focusing on sanitation by January 2026.'
During a press conference held at the Nehru Camp, Sachdeva criticized AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allowing 50,000 flats built under the Rajiv Awas Yojana in regions such as Narela to fall into disrepair, having not allocated even a single flat to any slum dweller over the last decade.
He pointed out the irony that despite being in power for more than 10 years, Kejriwal’s administration has failed to convert slum clusters into model settlements or enhance the living conditions of the residents.
'The past decade serves as evidence that Arvind Kejriwal can only instigate but not improve the lives of the people,' Sachdeva remarked.
He further challenged Kejriwal, asking: 'You have been in power for over a decade. Can you clarify what your government, the DUSIB, or any other agencies have accomplished for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers?'
According to the Delhi BJP President, while Kejriwal professes to provide free electricity to the underprivileged, residents of the Nehru Camp in the former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s constituency, Patparganj, are facing monthly electricity bills ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 8,000. They are also compelled to buy drinking water.
'It is regrettable that, despite Arvind Kejriwal’s numerous claims, the earnings of Delhi’s impoverished slum families are entirely consumed by electricity and water expenses,' he stated.
'Every impoverished individual recognizes that PM Modi has provided not just thousands but millions of homes across urban and rural areas, which is why every slum dweller now looks towards the BJP,' he noted.
Sachdeva committed several promises on behalf of the BJP to the underprivileged in Delhi: slum dwellers wishing to stay in their current locations will be permitted to do so; the DUSIB/DDA will offer alternative housing or flats to slum dwellers, and every homeless person in Delhi will receive a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
