New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday launched a fierce criticism against AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of deceiving naive sanitation workers in Delhi by offering them the false promise of home ownership.
During a press conference, Sachdeva claimed that Kejriwal has been feeding falsehoods to the residents of Delhi for the past 12 years, and now he is misleading sanitation workers by asserting that the Central government will provide land for constructing flats for them upon their retirement.
Sachdeva highlighted that the Central government invested Rs 2,415 crore in constructing flats for economically disadvantaged individuals in Delhi, yet the Kejriwal administration failed to ensure these flats reached the needy over the last decade.
He noted that the Central government's investment was Rs 1,108.85 lakh, while the Delhi government's contribution was Rs 992 crore for the development of 52,344 flats.
These residences were intended for beneficiaries who were to cover a portion of the cost amounting to Rs 314 crore and were situated in locations such as Girpur, Dwarka, Sultanpuri, Bawana, Bhalswa, and Baprola.
Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of seizing the entire file related to these flats, insisting they would not be distributed unless they were included under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme, despite the fact that over half of the funding originated from the Central government.
According to Sachdeva, these flats have now fallen into disrepair due to Kejriwal's stubbornness, as he demanded that his photo be displayed on the buildings.
The Central government proposed that Kejriwal return the funds, stating that they had provided free or low-cost housing to four crore individuals through the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme and would extend the same to Delhi, but Kejriwal refused, the BJP chief asserted.
When it came to renovating the flats, both DUSIB and DSIDC departments of the Delhi government requested nearly Rs 220 crore from Kejriwal. However, in 2023, he allocated only Rs 1 lakh, claiming a lack of funds, according to Sachdeva.
He predicted that with elections approaching, Kejriwal would make new announcements each day.
Sachdeva also mentioned that Kejriwal has yet to clarify how the former Chief Minister's income surged by 40 percent in 2020-21, and how private individuals extended loans of Rs 86 lakh, Rs 58 lakh, and Rs 10 lakh to AAP leader Manish Sisodia with virtually no conditions.
