Kolkata, Sep 19 (NationPress) The Trinamool Congress administration has allocated 200 acres of land to the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) for the establishment of the Raghunathpur-Tajpur economic corridor in the region.
During a state Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee endorsed this initiative.
According to sources from the State Secretariat (Nabanna), three pivotal resolutions were passed in the Cabinet to enhance the industrial landscape.
The government has committed to providing a total of 200 acres of land to WBIDC for the development of the Tajpur-Dankuni-Raghunathpur economic corridor.
Previously, plans were set to create several economic corridors in the state mirroring the Amritsar-Dankuni Industrial Corridor to foster industrial growth in West Bengal.
Chief Minister Banerjee had previously unveiled the construction of six economic corridors in Bengal, which include Raghunathpur-Tajpur, Dankuni-Kalyani, Dankuni-Jhargram, Dankuni-Cooch Bihar, Joka-Garudi, and Kharagpur-Morgram.
In addition to the infrastructural advancements, the Cabinet also resolved to grant industrial status to all logistics enterprises within the state.
Furthermore, a proposal to fill 15 vacancies in the Newtown Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) was approved during the meeting.
Sources indicate that an industrial conference is slated to take place in West Bengal following Durga Puja.
“Today, the state government has made three critical decisions aimed at revitalizing the industrial sector. With logistics receiving industrial status, this sector is poised for expansion. Additionally, the economic corridor will facilitate business operations, leading to job creation,” stated a senior government official.
These resolutions are particularly significant as the state government seeks to stimulate industrial growth in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections next year.
The core objective of these initiatives is to draw investments into the state and foster employment opportunities.
