Bengaluru, Oct 27 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police Department has suspended a Police Inspector following serious rape allegations made by a woman from a minority community. An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) implicated in the case has also faced suspension.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed the suspensions on Monday and indicated that an investigation into both officers is currently in progress.

A 36-year-old woman lodged a formal complaint against D.J. Halli Police Inspector H.B. Sunil last Wednesday with Karnataka DGP and IGP M.A. Saleem, demanding legal action against him. The woman alleges that Inspector Sunil raped her after promising to marry her.

Furthermore, she claims that the accused has threatened her life and has been blackmailing her with the threat of releasing private videos.

In a statement to the media, the victim recounted, “I approached the D.J. Halli police station in Bengaluru one-and-a-half years ago, where Inspector Sunil handled my complaint and assured me of a quick resolution. He also informed ASI Prakash about the matter. After facing difficulties with Officer Prakash, I requested Inspector Sunil to assign a different officer, which he agreed to, leading us to develop a close relationship.”

“We began exchanging messages and pleasantries. He inquired about my past relationships. I revealed that I had not considered marriage since a breakup many years prior,” she elaborated.

According to the victim, “He promised to marry me legally and urged me to search for a house in the police station vicinity. A month after our acquaintance, he invited me to his home, claiming his wife was away. Upon arrival, he had organized drinks and a small gathering, insisting I should not seek another partner and asserting that we would be together, ultimately deceiving me.”

In her complaint, the victim stated, “During our initial encounter, he obtained my personal phone number. The following day, he messaged me after viewing my phone status, and I replied with gratitude. Despite my hesitance, I continued to respond to his texts. He started inviting me for drinks and parties, reiterating his wife's absence for ten days, prompting me to visit him again.”

“He coerced me into drinking, took me to his bedroom, and forced me into physical relations. At around 5 a.m., he arranged a cab to send me home. In February, he invited me to a hotel near Manyata Tech Park. When I arrived, he made me drink again and had physical relations with me while in police uniform,” she alleged.

“Since I relied on him for resolving my complaint, I complied with his demands. He consistently messaged and video called me,” she added.

“Throughout this period, he guaranteed to establish a beauty parlour in my name, purchase a flat valued between Rs 50 to 60 lakh, and marry me. While he was on duty in Belagavi, he maintained contact through calls and messages. Upon his return, he invited me to his apartment on the 14th floor,” she stated.

“Eventually, I reminded him of his unfulfilled promises. He failed to marry me, purchase a flat, or set up the parlour. Instead, he exploited me at will and threatened my life if I disclosed anything,” she concluded in her complaint.

The victim has also provided screenshots of their conversations as evidence.
