Bengaluru, Mar 21 (NationPress) A heartbreaking event unfolded in the Bengaluru North taluk when a four-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a road accident involving a speeding canter vehicle on Saturday.

Fortunately, her mother and younger sibling were unharmed.

The incident took place at Hanumanthegowdanapalya, near Nelamangala town, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. A speeding canter lorry reportedly struck the child right in front of her mother.

The young victim has been identified as Nishika, the first daughter of Rajendra and Lavanya.

As per police reports, Lavanya was on her way to the Anjaneya Swamy temple in Gollahalli with her children after celebrating Ugadi.

She was holding her younger child in her arms while grasping Nishika's hand as they approached the temple for darshan.

The authorities stated that the tragic accident occurred when a canter lorry, allegedly driven recklessly on a narrow road, collided with the child due to the driver's negligence.

While Lavanya and her younger child narrowly escaped injury, Nishika sadly succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The aftermath saw furious locals gathering at the site, vandalizing the lorry by breaking its windows and assaulting the driver before he was handed over to the police.

A case has been filed at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station, with the driver and the vehicle now in police custody as investigations continue.

It is worth noting that this incident follows another tragic event on February 11, where two children, including a toddler, were killed when a school bus collided with a scooter. The constable Nagana Gowda was on the scooter during that incident.

CCTV footage captured the moment when the bus struck the scooter, resulting in the deaths of two-year-old Varsha and a four-year-old child.

On February 16, a two-year-old boy also lost his life when a speeding car crashed into a stationary scooter in the K.R. Pura area. The child, identified as Trishan, fell onto the road due to the impact, only to be run over by the same vehicle.

This incident occurred at 6:10 p.m. on the Kittaganur-Maragindanahalli main road, while the family was en route to the Shiva temple in Maragondanahalli.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach this tragic incident with sensitivity and focus on the broader implications of road safety. This event highlights the urgent need for improved traffic regulations and community awareness to prevent such heartbreaking occurrences in the future.
