Jaipur, March 10 (NationPress) Bhilwara is currently observing a bandh on Monday as a protest against the incidents of gang rape and alleged love jihad. This shutdown has been organized by saints under the banner of Sakal Hindu Samaj. Markets have been closed since 8:30 a.m. and will remain shut until 5 p.m., with the exception of essential services.
Numerous organizations, including various trader associations, have shown their support for the bandh. To uphold law and order, additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas, ensuring strict security measures at critical market locations and intersections.
In order to facilitate the bandh, seven coordination points have been established across the city, where organizational leaders have gathered. These points include Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Shastri Nagar, Dudhdhari Gopal Temple, Sanganeri Gate, Tempo Stand, Kheda Khut Temple, Sanjay Colony, Chhoti Pulia Chauraha, Subhash Nagar, Malola Chauraha, Kumbha Circle, and Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar, among others.
Workers from these points will march towards Shri Guest House Square, ensuring the closure of the main markets. The rally will commence from Dudhdhari Gopal Mandir, routing through Bada Mandir, Bhimganj Thana, Gol Pyaau Square, Station Square, Machinery Market, and Azad Chowk, before concluding at Bajrangi Square at 2 p.m.
A significant Aakrosh Sabha (protest gathering) will take place there to determine the future course of action. Public awareness for the bandh was raised throughout Sunday using autos and direct appeals to traders. Various organizations, including the District Medical Association, have agreed to shut their establishments by 11 a.m. The Traders Association, Krishi Mandi, Industrial Association, and District Bar Association have also supported the bandh.
Additionally, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Private School Association have shown solidarity. Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharmendra Singh has promised that stringent security measures are in place.
Additional forces have been positioned at key intersections, and emergency services, including Vajra vehicles, fire brigades, and ambulances, are on standby. Police station in-charges are closely monitoring their respective areas, with special security forces stationed in sensitive regions to avert any disturbances to law and order.
This bandh is a direct response to a case of gang rape and religious conversion involving a minor girl in Bhilwara.
The victim's father has lodged a complaint against six alleged perpetrators.
According to Surjeet Tholia, in-charge of Pratap Nagar police station, the accused repeatedly gang-raped the girl, threatening to leak her obscene photos and videos on social media. Authorities are actively investigating, and the police have assured that strict action will be taken against the offenders.
