Bidhuri Calls for Cong to Apologize to Hema Malini First After Controversial Remarks

New Delhi, Jan 5 (NationPress) Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate representing the Kalkaji Assembly constituency, recently stirred up controversy with his remarks comparing roads to Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks. On Sunday, he clarified that he had no intention of offending anyone's feelings or sentiments. Nevertheless, he rejected the Congress’s demands for an apology, arguing that it is the Opposition who ought to apologize first for Lalu Yadav's previous comparison of Bihar's roads to Hema Malini's cheeks.
In defense of his statement, Bidhuri highlighted that Lalu Yadav had made a similar comment regarding BJP leader Hema Malini years ago.
"Congress and AAP should first seek an apology from their INDIA bloc ally, Lalu Yadav, for his disrespectful comments about Hema Malini. Just because Priyanka Gandhi comes from a privileged background, she receives different treatment. Hema Malini, who hails from a regular family, deserves equal respect," Bidhuri stated to reporters.
He further accused the Congress of hypocrisy and favoritism, asserting, "Congress never stands up for Hema Malini because she does not belong to a wealthy family. They are solely focused on theatrics to gain votes. The Nehru family has been detrimental to the country for over 70 years, and the public can see through their antics."
In response to Bidhuri's statements, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate criticized the BJP, labeling it an anti-woman party and calling his remarks "shameful" and indicative of an "ugly mindset."
She insisted that the BJP leader should apologize to Priyanka Gandhi.
The controversy followed Bidhuri's earlier remarks about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, where he claimed he would make the "roads of the constituency as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks" if he wins the upcoming Assembly elections.
Bidhuri has faced backlash from the Opposition for his contentious remarks in the past as well. In 2023, he made communal statements against former BSP MP Danish Ali in Parliament, which led to widespread condemnation from the Opposition. Although those remarks were later expunged, Bidhuri expressed regret over the incident.
This heated exchange between Congress and BJP regarding his recent comments underscores the escalating tensions as campaigning ramps up ahead of the Assembly elections.
