Bihar: BPSC to Hold Re-examination Today Amidst Increasing Student Protests

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is holding a re-examination on Saturday for candidates from the Bapu Pariksha Parisar centre, which faced reports of irregularities during the 70th Preliminary Examination. Nonetheless, students and political factions have pledged to obstruct the exam today.

More than 10,000 candidates are anticipated to participate in the re-exam, which will occur at 22 distinct centres.

However, the protests have intensified, with students calling for the cancellation of the entire examination and a retest throughout Bihar. BPSC Secretary Satyaprakash Sharma emphasized that there is no basis for a statewide re-examination and confirmed that the commission has no intentions for additional retesting.

On Friday in Patna, a demonstration led by former MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, disrupted railway services at the Sachiwalay Halt station and halted vehicle movement. Leftist student organizations participated in the protests, many of which occurred without prior administrative approval.

In spite of significant police presence, Rajesh Ranjan and his followers occupied the railway tracks in solidarity with candidates who have been on a 17-day hunger strike.

The protests arise from allegations of extensive irregularities in the BPSC Preliminary Examination. The demonstrators contend that restricting the re-examination to a single centre is insufficient and unjust to other candidates.

The district administration has initiated legal actions against Rajesh Ranjan and others for obstructing public services.

Nevertheless, Rajesh Ranjan has vowed to persist with the protests until justice is achieved, including pursuing the matter in the Supreme Court.

He reiterated his dedication to the cause, asserting: "We will approach the Supreme Court regarding this issue. BPSC has erred, and it must annul the entire examination. Our protests will persist until the paper leak issues in Bihar and the nation are resolved."

With escalating tensions and heightened administrative alertness, the situation remains precarious. Additional disruptions are expected as candidates and their supporters continue to demand statewide action.
