Will Samrat Choudhary Hold Accused Accountable in Bihar NEET Aspirant Death Case?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 6 (NationPress) The political climate in Bihar remains highly charged following the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna, leading to intense exchanges between the NDA and opposition parties.
In response to a comment made by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Samrat Choudhary, issued a vehement rebuttal, directly challenging her to disclose the names of those purportedly involved in the incident.
"Rabri Devi must publicly identify the individual. I assure you that if any minister or a minister's son is implicated, I will have them jailed within 24 hours," stated Samrat Choudhary.
His comments emerged as the opposition continued to criticize the Nitish Kumar administration regarding the law and order situation following the NEET aspirant's mysterious death.
Rabri Devi, on Thursday, expressed skepticism about the state government's intentions, claiming that individuals linked to the ruling party were receiving protection.
In defense, the Deputy Chief Minister insisted that the government would not provide a shield to any wrongdoer, regardless of their stature.
"Our government is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of women. If Rabri Devi possesses evidence, she should present it. If she refrains, it raises doubts about whether she is concealing information," he noted.
The NEET aspirant was discovered unconscious under dubious circumstances in Patna's Shambhu Girls hostel on January 6 and tragically succumbed to her injuries on January 11, igniting widespread protests and political turmoil throughout Bihar.
Preliminary investigations raised significant alarms, prompting the state government to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The government asserts that a CBI investigation will guarantee a fair and transparent inquiry and that those responsible will face severe consequences.
This matter has also dominated discussions within the Bihar Legislative Assembly, where opposition factions accused the government of failing to uphold law and order.
However, the ruling NDA countered these accusations, emphasizing their commitment to transparent investigations and decisive action.
Reiterating his stance, Samrat Choudhary asserted that no offenders would evade justice, "regardless of how powerful or influential they may be."
