New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday that there were no claims or objections submitted by any political party during the initial 24 hours of the claims and objections procedure regarding the addition or removal of elector names in Bihar's draft voter list.

According to the poll panel, "From August 1 (3 p.m.) until August 2 (3 p.m.), collectively, all political parties submitted 'zero' claims and objections for adding names of eligible electors and removing names of ineligible electors."

To facilitate this process for the citizens of Bihar, special camps have been established at all Block-cum-Circle Offices and Urban Local Body Municipal Offices, operating from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, until September 1, 2025.

On the inaugural day of the Bihar CEO's special campaign, initiated on August 1 to add names of young electors turning 18 years from July 1 to October 1, 2025, a total of 3,223 young individuals completed their registration forms along with the necessary declaration.

The ECI has urged all electors to submit their new photographs to their Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by September 1, as all eligible individuals will receive new Identity cards.

For claims and objections concerning the addition of eligible electors, the ECI has provided all political parties with a list of electors whose names appeared in the June 24 Electoral Roll but are absent in the August 1 draft.

The ECI noted that 1.60 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), appointed by the District Presidents of all 12 political parties, are actively participating in this exercise.

As per the Special Intensive Revision directive, following the Enumeration Phase from June 24 to July 25, the draft Electoral Rolls for Bihar were published on Friday.

The draft Electoral Rolls for all 90,712 polling booths across the 243 Assembly Constituencies were distributed to all political parties by the 38 District Election Officers (DEOs) of Bihar on August 1, 2025.

Point of View

The lack of objections filed by political parties regarding Bihar's draft voter list is notable. It raises questions about their engagement in the electoral process. With significant efforts made by the ECI to facilitate voter registration, it becomes imperative for political entities to actively participate in ensuring a robust democratic process. The nation watches closely as developments unfold.
