Patna, Aug 1 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) unveiled the draft voter list for Bihar on Friday, marking the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Residents are encouraged to verify their names on the list and submit claims or objections until September 1.
The Commission has stated that any voter or political party can add absent names, remove ineligible entries, and correct inaccurate details as needed.
From August 1, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, along with all 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) statewide, will start collecting claims and objections from voters and recognized political parties.
This initiative will run until September 1, encompassing weekends and public holidays.
To assist with this process, special camps will be set up from August 2 to September 1 at Block-cum-Anchal offices, and urban body offices such as Nagar Panchayat, Nagar Parishad, and Municipal Corporation zones.
These camps will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Sundays and festivals, ensuring that everyone can resolve their voter list issues.
According to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, both digital and printed versions of the draft voter list have been distributed to all recognized political parties by the District Election Officers (DEOs) across Bihar's 38 districts.
Additionally, a dedicated online portal is available for voters to check the status of their enrollment.
Citizens can verify their information by visiting the Election Commission’s official website and entering the necessary details.
With the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 approaching, ensuring a precise and updated voter list is vital.
The ECI's extended window and proactive outreach efforts aim to promote transparency, inclusivity, and confidence in the electoral system.
Voters can check their names on the draft voter list either online or offline. If they find discrepancies, they should visit the nearest voter camp or election office.
