New Delhi, Aug 4 (NationPress) A total of 1,927 electors in Bihar have submitted forms for the addition or removal of names from the draft voter list within the first 72 hours of initiating this process, as reported by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday.
During this timeframe, no political party has lodged any claims or objections, as stated by the poll panel.
From August 1 (3 p.m.) to August 4 (3 p.m.), the cumulative claims and objections filed by political parties stood at 'zero' regarding the addition of eligible electors and the removal of ineligible ones, according to a bulletin released by the poll panel.
In its update concerning claims and objections related to the draft electoral roll, the ECI noted that special camps are operational at all Block-cum-Circle Offices and Urban Local Body Municipal Offices from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (daily from Monday to Sunday) until September 1, 2025.
The ECI also mentioned a special campaign initiated by the Bihar Chief Electoral Officer on August 1 to encourage eligible young electors turning 18 between July 1 and October 1, 2025 to participate. So far, 10,977 young electors have submitted their forms along with the necessary declaration.
Electors are urged to submit their updated photographs to their Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by September 1, as new identity cards will be issued to all eligible voters.
The ECI has also provided political parties with a list of electors whose names were present in the June 24 Electoral Roll but are absent in the draft Electoral Roll dated August 1, facilitating claims and objections.
Approximately 1.60 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), appointed by the District Presidents of all 12 political parties, are actively engaged in this process.
Following the completion of the Enumeration Phase from June 24 to July 25, the draft Electoral Rolls for Bihar were published on August 1.
The draft Electoral Rolls covering all 90,712 polling booths across all 243 Assembly Constituencies were disseminated to all political parties by the 38 District Election Officers (DEOs) of Bihar on August 1, 2025.
