Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, accused Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi convener Saurabh Bharadwaj of intentionally engaging in misleading politics to steer the public's focus away from the scandals occurring in the health and education sectors during the tenure of Arvind Kejriwal.
Sachdeva’s criticism followed Bharadwaj’s assertion that the BJP government was merely rebranding existing health facilities and Mohalla Clinics as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
According to Sachdeva, Bharadwaj, having served as the Health Minister, is aware that the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs being established by enhancing Delhi government dispensaries under the current Rekha Gupta administration are well-equipped to handle various health issues and offer essential health check-up services.
In contrast, he highlighted that the Mohalla Clinics under the Kejriwal government were primarily focused on treating minor ailments and became notorious for X-ray and pathology lab referral scams.
Sachdeva pointed out that after 11 years in power, Bharadwaj should recognize that the Kejriwal administration effectively closed down government dispensaries to promote the Mohalla Clinic model.
He emphasized that linking these dispensaries with the Central Government’s Ayushman scheme and operationalizing 51 Arogya Mandirs within a year stands as a considerable achievement for the BJP government.
Previously, Bharadwaj questioned how many new AAMs had been established in new buildings and how many were merely rebranded.
He asserted that residents of Delhi understand that merely changing the name of a health facility does not enhance the quality of services.
Earlier, in a significant move to bolster Delhi’s healthcare framework, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 51 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, beginning with Fatehpur Beri village in South Delhi.
With these new centers now functional, the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the capital has reached 370, a remarkable achievement in just eight months.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the priority of the Delhi government is to guarantee that every citizen has access to timely, affordable, and easily available healthcare. Alongside healthcare initiatives, she also launched development projects worth Rs 322 crore in the Chhatarpur Assembly constituency.
The projects encompass road construction and enhancement, improvements to drainage systems, infrastructure upgrades to alleviate traffic congestion, school development, and improvements to public amenities. Expanded basic civic facilities will be implemented across local colonies.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the approval of a double-decker flyover on the Mehrauli–Badarpur Road at a cost of Rs 1,471 crore. The Chhatarpur Assembly constituency will also benefit from three new schools, in addition to the approval of four elevated road projects for Chhatarpur and nearby regions.
