Bengaluru, March 3 (NationPress) In a sharp critique of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's address during the joint session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, the state BJP charged the Congress-led administration with orchestrating a speech filled with outright falsehoods.
After the Governor's address, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra spoke to the media in Bengaluru, stating, “Anyone who listened to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s speech will recognize that this administration has squandered his time. The Congress-led government has compelled the Governor to falsely assert that it has succeeded in propelling the state’s development and fortifying the financial framework.”
He further criticized the address for lacking any reference to genuine progress. “Throughout the speech, every assertion concluded with phrases such as ‘orders are being issued,’ ‘action will be taken,’ ‘will be established,’ and ‘the government intends to.' Nowhere did the government assert that actions have been executed or that development has been guaranteed,” Vijayendra remarked.
He also highlighted the absence of concrete data in the speech. “Over the past two years, since the Congress government assumed power, how can it claim to have expedited growth? The Chief Minister must provide clarification on this in the upcoming days,” he urged.
Vijayendra concluded by asserting that the Congress government has not succeeded in delivering progress to the state, as evidenced by the Governor’s address. “The speech mentions subsidies for dairy farming, yet the government has not disbursed pending subsidies amounting to thousands of crores,” he noted.
The speech also referenced regional balance, claiming that Rs 90,000 crore has been allocated. “What actual funding has been designated for this purpose? What is the real expenditure incurred over the past two years? They must provide answers,” he demanded.
He further remarked that the impoverished are in distress, and the government's management of the drought situation is yet to be evaluated.
In response to the Governor’s address, BJP MLC C.T. Ravi accused the Congress government of disseminating falsehoods through the Governor. “Since taking office, the Congress has hiked prices on 17 essential items, including milk, metro fares, and electricity,” he claimed.
“A farmer must pay Rs 3 lakh just to transfer any documents. What does that indicate regarding the law and order situation in the state? Everyone is aware of the situation—murders, ATM robberies, and gang-rapes happen daily. Did the Governor address any of this?” Ravi questioned.
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Monday stated that no significant law and order issues have arisen in the state over the last 19 months.
This statement was made while addressing the joint session of the Assembly on the inaugural day of the budget session.
The Governor further proclaimed, “I am proud to state that my government has succeeded in accelerating the pace of development within the state and enhancing the government's financial system. As Mahatma Gandhi asserted, my government is committed to using governance to alleviate the suffering of the last individual.”
