BJP Calls for Investigation into Mayor's Wife's Dual Registration on Electoral Roll

New Delhi, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP has formally addressed Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, requesting an inquiry into an alleged inconsistency regarding the name of Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi's spouse in the electoral roll of the Karol Bagh constituency.
BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor accused that two women, each possessing distinct EPIC cards, are recorded as the 'wife' of Mayor Khichi, who is a notable Dalit leader within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
In his correspondence, Kapoor mentioned that Mayor Khichi resides at F-12, Nehru Nagar, Karol Bagh, and is listed in the voter roll of Karol Bagh Assembly Constituency’s Part 40.
The Mayor holds the Voter Number 280 in Part 40 of the electoral list. His wife, Nidhi, is recorded at Serial Number 281 with EPIC Number RJNI365741.
Surprisingly, the same voters' list also includes another woman, Mamta, at Voter Number 285 with EPIC Number 15915026, who is also listed as the Mayor’s wife.
Kapoor noted that although he lacks personal knowledge regarding the name of the Mayor’s spouse, there appears to be an alleged error or inconsistency in either the records or the filing of information by the residents of the Mayor's household.
Kapoor emphasized that it is inappropriate for the Mayor, as a public representative, to permit such a discrepancy in the electoral roll.
He stated that if it is discovered that one woman is registered under two different names, it would constitute a legal violation.
The Delhi BJP spokesperson stressed that as an elected official, the Mayor cannot feign ignorance about two women being registered as his 'wife' at the same address.
Kapoor urged the Lieutenant Governor to initiate an investigation into this matter and consider legal actions against the Mayor for allegedly having 'two wives' or having his spouse registered twice as a voter under two distinct names.
