Bathinda, Jan 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, strongly criticized the BJP on Sunday regarding the alleged tampering of a video featuring former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. He asserted that this act is a calculated scheme aimed at inciting communal unrest in Punjab.
He emphasized that the secular state government would not allow such malicious efforts to thrive, stating that the video was manipulated with misleading subtitles, which he described as an act of 'beadbi' (sacrilege). Forensic investigations have confirmed that Atishi never uttered the term “Guru,” he added.
In defense of the Punjab Police's actions against BJP leader Kapil Mishra, CM Mann pointed out that the doctored video does not exist in the official Assembly records. He accused the BJP of pursuing an anti-Punjab agenda on various issues, including Chandigarh and Panajb University, while opposition leaders scramble to defend falsehoods due to a lack of genuine issues against the state government.
CM Mann stated, “Since its formation, the BJP has engaged in the politics of communalism, division, and hatred. With the elections nearing, the party has begun executing this strategy in Punjab to create divisions among the populace.” The BJP has altered Atishi’s video by adding its own subtitles, and forensic analysis has clearly shown that the term ‘Guru’ was never spoken by her.
The Chief Minister remarked that manipulating facts for political gain is a longstanding tactic of the BJP, which has profoundly hurt the sentiments of the Sikh 'sangat'. “By distorting this video, they have committed sacrilege. This will not be tolerated, and they will face consequences for their actions,” he stated, asserting that the altered video was evident as the attributed words to the former Delhi Chief Minister were absent from the official Assembly records.
Regarding BJP leader Kapil Mishra, CM Mann said, “The individual who disseminated the altered video online will be held accountable. The Punjab Police acted appropriately in filing a case against him. This is not a matter of any privilege related to the Delhi Assembly; he has been charged with offending the sentiments of the public and will face legal repercussions.”
He further added that the BJP harbors a hostile mindset towards Punjab. “Former CM Capt Amarinder Singh, state BJP President Sunil Jakhar, and Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu find themselves in a difficult position today as they attempt to rationalize the BJP’s antagonistic stance towards Punjab with a series of lies,” he noted.
CM Mann concluded by stating that the BJP and its leaders show little regard for the revered Sikh Gurus. “The Prime Minister has never taken the time to accept invitations to events commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom anniversary) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur. Neither the Prime Minister nor any senior leader from the Center visited Punjab to pay their respects during these significant events. This reflects a narrow-minded approach towards Sikhs and our esteemed Gurus.”
