BJP Criticizes Jharkhand Administration Over Declining Law and Order Situation

Ranchi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The acting president of Jharkhand's BJP and former MP Ravindra Kumar Ray has taken aim at the state government led by Hemant Soren, asserting that the law and order situation in the state has significantly declined.

During a press conference at the state office on Friday, Ray pointed out that recent events occurring in districts such as East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Latehar, and Chatra signal the return of what he termed “Jungle Raj.”

He emphasized a rise in violent occurrences, including a series of murders in Chaibasa within just five to six days, stating, “These events are disgraceful. Innocent villagers have been victimized by extremists while law enforcement has failed to respond. This inaction has compelled young individuals to take up arms for protection. Reports indicate numerous casualties,” he remarked.

Ray also cited other disturbing incidents, including the killing of two people in East Singhbhum due to disputes over sand quarry control, arson aimed at railway contractors’ vehicles in Latehar, and the savage murder of an individual at the Ranchi-Chatra border.

He likened the current scenario to the “Jungle Raj” experienced in Bihar under the RJD, where lawlessness and unchecked extremism were rampant.

Reflecting on history, Ray stated, “When Jharkhand was separated from Bihar in 2000, it inherited the Maoist issue that flourished under the RJD regime. During that time, crimes such as the murders of MPs, MLAs, and even the son of a former Chief Minister were prevalent. Extortion from industrialists and businesspeople became commonplace. It was only through the united efforts of BJP-led administrations at both the Centre and state levels that we effectively curtailed extremism.”

Ray commended previous BJP governments for their strong stance against extremism, noting that many extremists surrendered, were neutralized by security forces, or fled from Jharkhand entirely. “Their hideouts were dismantled, and their activities were significantly reduced,” he added.

Despite this, Ray expressed alarm that organized crime and extremism have resurged under the present government. “Rural communities are feeling compelled to arm themselves for self-defense, and some have even engaged in collective actions against extremists. Villagers are forced to stay awake at night to safeguard their lives and properties, fearing government retaliation for their self-defense initiatives,” he claimed.

The BJP leader further accused extremists of threatening the public and businesses to extort funds from sand quarries, coal mines, and other natural resources. “The Hemant Soren administration has gone as far as declaring 24 roads in the state as unsafe, which starkly illustrates the declining law and order situation,” he stated.

Ray urged the state government to implement swift and effective measures to restore law and order. “The administration must prioritize public safety and reestablish the rule of law,” he insisted.
