Chennai, Dec 30 (NationPress) A vicious machete assault on a migrant worker from Odisha in Tiruttani has sparked significant political uproar, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing the DMK administration of a total breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu.

Denouncing the attack, BJP State spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad referred to the assault on Suraj — allegedly perpetrated by four inebriated minors who recorded the incident for social media — as “a disturbing representation of moral decline and governance breakdown.”

He stated that the victim, an unarmed migrant laborer, was attacked without provocation, mercilessly beaten, and left bloodied while the attackers viewed the violence as entertainment.

“This is not just youthful mischief; it is attempted murder driven by substance abuse, the glorification of violence, and administrative incompetence,” Prasad asserted, claiming that Tamil Nadu has become perilous due to the State government's inability to manage narcotics, street crime, and the online glorification of violence.

The BJP has demanded immediate enhancements to intelligence units, rigorous monitoring of at-risk youth, and unwavering enforcement of current laws regarding weapon possession, drug misuse, and violent offenses.

Prasad also advocated for obligatory moral and legal education in schools, emphasizing compassion, discipline, the repercussions of crime, and social responsibility.

Targeting what he called the “cinema-fueled glorification of violence,” Prasad urged action against filmmakers and online platforms that normalize brutality.

“Social media platforms can swiftly identify copyright infringements but allow violent content to proliferate. This hypocrisy must cease,” he stated, demanding strict accountability from these platforms and immediate removal of violent materials.

The BJP figurehead criticized what he termed selective enforcement of the law, alleging that whistleblowers and those who share videos are frequently targeted while offenders evade severe repercussions.

“Sending minors to reform facilities while permitting the system that created them to persist is an affront to justice,” he declared, advocating for tougher laws against egregious crimes committed by juveniles.

Referring to previous incidents within Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s constituency, Prasad noted that prior warnings had been ignored.

“This tragedy could have been averted had decisive action been taken sooner,” he remarked.

Calling for a thorough judicial investigation into drug networks, policing failures, and administrative oversights, the BJP demanded prompt corrective actions.

“Tamil Nadu deserves security, not silence. The populace seeks justice, not excuses,” he concluded.
