BJP Critiques Trinamool Congress on Lawlessness and Economic Struggles in Bengal Ahead of Elections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
In New Delhi on March 29, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representatives vehemently criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, accusing it of promoting lawlessness, corruption, and a significant economic downturn. They asserted that the populace is now yearning for political transformation.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari expressed that the residents of West Bengal are ready to end what he termed as "government-sanctioned hooliganism, crimes, and atrocities against Hindus".
In a conversation with IANS, Tiwari remarked, "The authority rests with the citizens, and the report presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah mirrors the grievances of the public. It’s evident that the people of West Bengal are reconsidering their options—it's time for Mamata Didi to step aside and let the BJP take the helm."
Adding to this, BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala accused the TMC government of having "plundered" the state over the past 15 years, fundamentally altering its core values.
"In the past decade and a half, the TMC government has systematically stripped West Bengal of its wealth and led it to a state where the principles of 'Maa, Maati, Manush' have vanished, replaced by 'protecting rapists, supporting the corrupt, and favoring outsiders',' Poonawala asserted.
He further claimed that thousands of industries have exited the state, stating, "About 6,000 businesses have departed from West Bengal, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appears unconcerned... her only priority seems to be ensuring that infiltrators remain within the state."
Poonawala also raised alarm over women's safety and employment, stating that West Bengal has experienced the "highest level of violence against women" and the "most acid attacks" in the nation.
He criticized the state government for lacking a "constructive approach" to these pressing issues.
Furthermore, he alleged that nearly 30 lakh jobs have been lost in the state, referencing supposed irregularities in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment.
"There's a scandal involving 26,000 positions in the SSC, and the TMC government has yet to take a stand on this matter," Poonawala noted.
He concluded that instead of tackling these vital concerns, the ruling Trinamool Congress resorts to political rhetoric.
"Rather than providing an accountability report on governance, Mamata Banerjee and her party oscillate between playing the 'victim card' and the 'division card'," Poonawala alleged.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh lambasted the TMC leadership for its recent comments, suggesting that the party is feeling the heat as elections draw near.
"As the elections approach, their (TMC's) likelihood of defeat grows. This is why Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are losing grip on their words. They are resorting to inappropriate language without justification," Ghosh stated.
