Gurugram, Feb 25 (NationPress) With merely four days remaining before the municipal elections in Haryana, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled 58 leaders and workers for “anti-party activities” for a duration of six years.

The expelled individuals are associated with the Gurugram and Manesar Municipal Corporations.

Several of these individuals are running as independents in the Municipal Corporations elections after being denied the party’s nomination.

BJP District President Kamal Yadav issued a statement on Monday, declaring: “After discussions with State President Haryana Mohan Lal Kaushik ji, the following BJP members who are contesting elections against the party and engaging in anti-party activities are expelled from the BJP for six years, and their primary membership is terminated immediately.”

The majority of the outgoing councillors from the BJP expressed dissatisfaction after not receiving the party’s nomination. Many of them are now contesting as independents.

“The candidates running as rebels are misrepresenting themselves as party candidates. We have received complaints regarding this issue. The public should not be misled by them. Such individuals are creating confusion. The person contesting elections under the party symbol is the official party candidate,” Kamal Yadav, BJP district president, informed IANS.

The list published by the BJP includes Gurugram's former Mayor Vimal Yadav, his spouse and former councillor Rimple Yadav, former deputy mayor Parminder Katariya, and District Secretary Avnish Raghav Khandsa.

Voting for 33 municipal bodies, including eight corporations, four councils, and 21 committees in Haryana, is scheduled for March 2.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently unveiled the BJP’s manifesto in Rohtak for the municipal elections, promising a 25 percent rebate on residential tax for female homeowners in urban areas.

The BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ committed to establishing at least one ‘pink toilet’ equipped with sanitary napkin vending machines in every market, developing model parks with specialized facilities for the differently-abled, and providing free solar panels for families earning up to Rs one lakh annually, among other pledges.
