Kolkata, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced on Tuesday its plan to embark on 'Parivartan Rath Yatras' throughout West Bengal as part of its campaign strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

During the announcement, West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya stated that after 34 years of CPI-M governance, the public gave the Trinamool Congress an opportunity to lead the state in hopes of change.

However, he pointed out, "In the past 15 years, the state's democratic rights have been undermined, and corruption has become deeply ingrained. To convey the message of ousting the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections, we will launch parivartan yatras across the state," Bhattacharya emphasized.

The BJP plans to conduct nine yatras statewide.

The yatra will initiate on March 1 from locations including Cooch Behar South, Krishnanagar South, Garbeta, Raidighi, and Kulti, with additional yatras commencing on March 2 from Islampur, Sandeshkhali, Hasan, and Amta.

Activities will be paused on March 3 and 4 in observance of Dol Yatra and Holi.

From March 5 to 10, the initiative will traverse over 5,000 km, covering various Assembly constituencies within the state.

Approximately 60 major and over 300 smaller public gatherings are scheduled as part of this campaign.

Each Assembly constituency will feature raths, tableaus, and extensive campaigning.

The programme is set to conclude with a large public meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata at the end of March.

State BJP President Bhattacharya also mentioned that several senior BJP leaders from the Central government might join the yatras' inauguration.

He has invited individuals from all walks of life to take part in this initiative.

In related news, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit West Bengal on Wednesday.

Minister Shah is expected to land at Kolkata airport on Wednesday afternoon before traveling by helicopter to Mayapur in Nadia district, where he will engage in various activities at the ISKCON temple, spending around two hours.

Sources indicate that Union Home Minister Shah will participate in the 152nd birth anniversary celebrations of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur at ISKCON Mayapur.

His itinerary includes a visit to ISKCON's Shankhabhavan, followed by Padmabhavan.

During his visit, the Union Minister may hold a special meeting with Hindu saints and monks.

Subsequently, Amit Shah will attend the 152nd birth anniversary events of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur.

However, he will not engage in any political activities.

After his Mayapur visit, Union Minister Shah will return to Delhi on Wednesday evening.
