New Delhi, Sep 30 (NationPress) BJP leaders mourned the loss of their esteemed member Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who departed early morning at AIIMS Delhi. His invaluable contributions to fortifying the party's presence in the national capital were fondly recalled. Born in December 1931 in Lahore, Malhotra passed away at the remarkable age of 93. His remains will be taken to the Delhi BJP office for final tributes.

A five-time MP and two-time MLA from Delhi, Malhotra served as President of the Delhi Pradesh Jana Sangh from 1972 to 1975 and held the position of President of the BJP Delhi Pradesh twice, from 1977 to 1980 and again from 1980 to 1984.

In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, he notably became the sole BJP candidate to retain his seat in Delhi.

The party emphasized that Malhotra's extensive work over the last 45 years positioned him as one of the most seasoned BJP leaders in the capital.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sorrow on X, stating, "I am profoundly saddened by the loss of BJP's senior leader Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra ji, whose influence was crucial in evolving the organization from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the Janata Party and BJP."

Shah added, "In every capacity, whether as the President of Delhi BJP, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, or as a people's representative, he dedicated himself to serving both the nation and the people of Delhi. Each discussion with him provided me deep insights into the organization." He concluded by extending condolences to Malhotra's family, wishing for the departed soul to find peace.

Union Health Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda remarked that Malhotra's passing represents an "irreparable loss to the BJP family."

"Characterized by simplicity, integrity, and unwavering loyalty, Malhotra ji not only facilitated the growth of the organization in Delhi but also tirelessly mentored numerous workers, always prepared for national and public service," he noted on X.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also shared his condolences online, stating, "In the narrative of Jana Sangh and BJP, figures like Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra hold a unique significance. His relentless efforts solidified our Party in Delhi. Respected for his profound understanding of the Indian Constitution, he was a dedicated Parliamentarian who diligently worked among the populace. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My condolences go out to his family. Om Shanti."

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed that the loss of Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the "guardian of all workers," is a "profoundly painful and irreparable loss."

"From the era of Jan Sangh to the establishment of BJP, his life exemplified patriotism, organizational prowess, and discipline. As the first president of Delhi BJP, he laid the groundwork for the organization, guiding countless workers on the path of service and dedication," she stated on X.

CM Gupta observed that Malhotra's passing has created a significant void in both the BJP community and social fabric.

"I pray for the departed soul to find solace and for strength to the grieving family and workers to endure this immense sorrow. Om Shanti," she added.

BJP MP Bansuri Sawaraj also expressed her heartbreak over the loss. "His life was devoted to the nation, the organization, and public service. He consistently provided new direction to politics through ideals, dedication, and a spirit of service, from the Jan Sangh era to strengthening the BJP," she remarked.

Sawaraj emphasized that the BJP and the nation will forever honor Malhotra's contributions and guidance.

According to the Delhi BJP, Malhotra was instrumental in politics alongside Kedar Nath Sahni and Madan Lal Khurana, and the party credits him for sustaining the BJP's presence in Delhi for many years.
