BJP to Request EC Investigation into AAP's Crowdfunding Sources

New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP intends to approach the Election Commission to formally examine the funding sources for AAP candidates or any other individual asserting to raise money via crowdfunding.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed concerns that AAP candidates might be accepting funds from forces hostile to India and urged the election authority to ensure that the source of these funds is made public prior to the elections.

Earlier today, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri ridiculed the AAP's crowdfunding strategy for its candidates' campaigns. “Why is there a need for crowdfunding? Has the liquor scam funding been depleted from the Goa elections?” he queried.

He dismissed AAP's claims regarding crowdfunding as “ridiculous.” “Initially, they deceive Indian-origin individuals abroad. Following that, they accept money from forces antagonistic to India and reside in the homes of their supporters during the Punjab elections,” he stated.

Sachdeva pointed out that AAP, which has been contesting elections since 2013, is now entering its ninth election, and the sudden emphasis by AAP leaders on raising election funds through crowdfunding has puzzled the residents of Delhi.

“The public is questioning whether this crowdfunding is a method to obscure funds saved from the liquor scam and the Goa election scandal, or whether it is a tactic to convert money obtained through coercion of industrialists and officials in Punjab into political contributions,” he remarked.

The Delhi BJP President further noted that it is highly dubious that first Manish Sisodia, then Durgesh Pathak, and now Chief Minister Atishi are all asserting they are raising election funds through crowdfunding.

Sisodia is implicated in the liquor scam, and reports have indicated that a significant amount of the funds from this scam were used during the Goa elections, where initially Durgesh Pathak and later Atishi acted as the election in-charges for AAP, Sachdeva added.
