Agartala, Jan 11 (NationPress) In a striking political turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has issued a warning to its members regarding the misrepresentation of the party's views and stances.
BJP insiders reported on Sunday that an individual named Hrishikesh Dey has been portraying himself as a leader, claiming he will become the next state president of the party.
While not specifically naming Dey, the Tripura BJP state committee indicated that they have noticed an individual falsely presenting himself as the potential president of the BJP's Tripura unit, visiting various districts and mandals (state Assembly constituencies) to connect with party workers, creating confusion and misinformation.
The party emphasized that, according to the BJP's organizational structure and constitution, the election or appointment of the state president and other office-bearers occurs solely through a defined, transparent, and constitutionally mandated organizational process.
"The BJP Tripura Pradesh unit declared that such actions, which violate the party constitution, are against party discipline and are deemed serious acts of indiscipline," stated Sunit Sarkar, the media-cell in-charge of the state BJP.
At the direction of state BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee, all district presidents, mandal presidents, and party workers have been advised that the party will not tolerate any form of indiscipline, misinformation, or activities that breach the party constitution.
The party has urged all members to avoid engaging or associating with any individual or group involved in such activities, Sarkar added.
The statement further reiterated that all BJP workers will continue to operate with discipline, unity, and complete faith in the party constitution to strengthen the organization in the upcoming days. Failure to do so will result in appropriate organizational actions in accordance with party rules," the statement concluded.
As the election for the new Tripura BJP state president has been delayed for some time, the current president Bhattacharjee, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, continues to hold the position.
After initially announcing the schedule for the election of the Tripura BJP state president, the party postponed it in July of last year.
Political analysts have suggested that internal conflicts led the BJP to delay the election for the party's state president even after the dates had been set.
