Lucknow, Oct 9 (NationPress) The BJP expressed its appreciation on Thursday for the remarks made by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati, who commended the state government for effectively utilizing funds from the 'Kanshiram Samarak Sthal' (memorial) for renovation efforts. She indicated that this approach marked a significant improvement compared to the methods employed by the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) administration.
Nevertheless, Mayawati's pointed criticism of the Congress and Samajwadi Party for their alleged tendency to “perform drama” and “exploit Dalits and marginalized communities” during their tenures prompted a vigorous reaction from the SP.
While addressing a gathering in Lucknow on the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, Mayawati accused the earlier SP and Congress governments of maintaining a casteist and capitalist approach that systematically marginalized Dalits, OBCs, and other vulnerable groups.
In response to her statements, Uttar Pradesh Minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal remarked to IANS, “It is our responsibility to uphold and preserve the contributions made by Mayawati, the revered Kanshi Ram, and the esteemed Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The monuments created for these leaders serve as a source of pride and motivation for our society.”
“During Akhilesh Yadav's time as Chief Minister, several engineering and degree colleges named after respected Dalit leaders had their names changed,” he noted.
In reaction to Mayawati's statements, Samajwadi Party MP R.K. Chaudhary criticized the BJP, saying, “The BJP operates under the RSS, which does not recognize B.R. Ambedkar's Constitution. Mayawati should be aware of the BJP's current trajectory. Their past actions will repeat themselves.”
“The BJP and RSS are attempting to impose the principles of Manusmriti, perpetuating discrimination. We are committed to combating such discrimination and protecting our Constitution. Mayawati needs to grasp this reality,” he concluded.
