Mumbai, April 25 (NationPress) BJP MLA Ram Kadam on Friday urged the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and the Congress party to apologize for their insulting remarks regarding freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

Kadam's statements followed the Supreme Court's serious warning to Rahul Gandhi concerning his previous comments, as it suspended a trial court summons in the matter. The bench, comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Manmohan, cautioned the Congress leader against making further derogatory remarks about Savarkar, emphasizing that he is revered in Maharashtra.

In an interview with IANS, Ram Kadam expressed, “Veer Savarkar devoted his entire existence to Maa Bharti (India). He faced significant hardships and made numerous sacrifices for the nation. Yet, Rahul Gandhi continues to use derogatory terms against him merely to placate a specific section of society. He has disrespected Savarkar on several occasions. If Rahul Gandhi experienced even a single day in the same conditions Savarkar endured in prison, perhaps he would comprehend the suffering Savarkar faced.”

The BJP representative added, “With the judiciary clarifying its position, it serves as a significant blow to Rahul Gandhi’s pride. We anticipate that he will honor the judiciary and respect the sentiments of the country. He and his party should sincerely apologize to the entire nation.”

When queried whether the court’s admonition would change Gandhi's viewpoint, Kadam replied, “This will determine his respect for the Constitution. The judiciary functions under the Constitution. If he continues to disregard it, that will be viewed as an affront to Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Constitution he drafted, and the judiciary itself.”

Kadam reiterated that both Rahul Gandhi and the Congress must apologize for their continual disrespect toward Veer Savarkar.

“Rahul Gandhi should kneel and seek forgiveness from the nation. Every Indian who honors Savarkar is pained by his words,” he added.

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments in Bihar, where he vowed to chase terrorists to the “ends of the Earth,” Kadam stated, “We have already taught Pakistan a lesson on two occasions. This government retaliates by entering their territory. This is not the Congress government that remains silent. The tragedy in Pahalgam has caused national grief. Those responsible will be held accountable, and we remain united under Modi ji’s strong leadership.”

Kadam also criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for his absence from the recent all-party meeting following the Pahalgam terror attack.

“If Uddhav Thackeray’s faction chose not to attend, should we infer that they support the terror attack? Whose side are they on? Is he a spokesperson for Pakistan? During his time as Chief Minister, Uddhav never left his residence. He is the emperor of laziness. Yet, in a time of national mourning, when all parties are standing together, his absence is telling. He should have at least considered the families from Maharashtra who lost their loved ones,” he concluded.
