The Congress party is accused of hindering progress.

Patna, April 5 (NationPress) BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain stated on Sunday that the upcoming two-phased elections in West Bengal will not suffer due to the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), but that the results for the ruling Trinamool Congress will be adverse.

During a press conference, Hussain claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is feeling disheartened as she is aware of her impending loss in the elections.

He also brought attention to the reported assault on judicial officers in Malda, West Bengal, along with the ongoing controversy regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the region.

Hussain remarked, "Mamata Banerjee has no notable achievements to discuss. Her focus is solely on countering the BJP's narrative."

Furthermore, he praised the BJP-led Central government's initiative for 33 percent reservation for women leaders in both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, a proposal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated during an election rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, on the same day.

During the public assembly, PM Modi emphasized that efforts are underway to ensure women can benefit from this initiative as soon as the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Hussain urged public support for this initiative.

However, he accused the Congress party of hindering progress, stating, "Rahul Gandhi and Congress are known for obstructing any beneficial endeavors."

In the meantime, PM Modi expressed that the entire nation has been appalled by the recent occurrence in Kaliachak, Malda, where seven judicial officers were taken hostage by troublemakers.

“The whole country was taken aback by the shocking incident where judges were held captive. Under the Trinamool Congress regime in West Bengal, even judges are not safe. The Kaliachak incident exemplifies the atrocities of the Trinamool Congress government. If the government cannot guarantee safety for judges, what will be the fate of ordinary citizens?” the Prime Minister remarked in Cooch Behar district.

Point of View

The statements made by Shahnawaz Hussain reflect the BJP's strategy to capitalize on the Trinamool Congress's perceived failures in West Bengal. The emphasis on women's representation and safety of judicial officers indicates a broader concern about governance in the state.
