Agartala, Feb 1 (NationPress) In a bid to ensure seamless cooperation with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), India's Border Security Force (BSF) has executed approximately 80 coordinated patrols along the India-Bangladesh borders recently, as announced by officials on Saturday.

A spokesperson from the BSF indicated that both border security forces have arranged numerous border coordination meetings at various levels along the 856-km international border with Tripura.

BSF battalions have also organized over 40 village coordination meetings in border regions to address the local populace's concerns, as he mentioned.

The BSF's Tripura frontier has increased vigilance and intensified its presence along the India-Bangladesh border.

Since January 26, BSF troops have effectively intercepted several infiltration attempts, exfiltration efforts, trans-border smuggling operations, and other illegal activities along the border.

According to the spokesperson, during various operations, both independently and collaboratively, the BSF has apprehended 14 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts.

Moreover, a substantial amount of narcotics, sugar, cattle, and other contraband worth Rs 2.5 crore has been confiscated.

The spokesperson emphasized that the BSF is committed to maintaining a high level of alertness along the International Border while contributing towards a vision of a 'Drug-Free Society'.

Tripura is bordered by Bangladesh on three sides, with certain areas remaining unfenced due to local disputes regarding land and demarcation issues.
