Casualties in Gachibowli Hit-and-Run Incident in Hyderabad Increase to Two

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (NationPress) The number of fatalities in the hit-and-run incident that transpired on December 23 in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, has tragically increased to two as of Thursday, after the injured youth succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

A reckless driver in a speeding vehicle struck a motorcycle near Nanakramguda Rotary on the ORR Service Road, resulting in the immediate death of an engineering student and leaving her companion in critical condition.

Ireni Shivani (21), who was studying B. Tech at Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology (CBIT) in Gandipet, lost her life in the incident. She was riding as a passenger on the bike driven by her friend Venkat Reddy (28), a software engineer, who was severely injured and taken to the hospital.

Unfortunately, Venkat Reddy passed away on Thursday morning, escalating the total number of fatalities from the incident to two.

Shivani, originally from Domakonda in the Kamareddy district, was residing in Gandipet as a paying guest. She was in her fourth year of B. Tech studies and had attended an SSC alumni meet at Nizam Sagar in Nizamabad.

Recently, she had secured a job through campus recruitment, with plans to begin work in four months.

According to law enforcement, she alighted from the bus at around 1:20 a.m. at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), where her friend Venkat Reddy picked her up.

On their way to Gachibowli, they were struck by a speeding car near Amma Vari Temple on the ORR Service Road. Both individuals were injured and transported to Kondapur Area Hospital. Shivani was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Venkat Reddy was admitted in critical condition.

The car involved in the accident was operated by Yedlapati Sri Kalash, a 19-year-old who is the son of a prominent doctor. Sai Kailash had recently returned from studying abroad in London.

A police spokesperson confirmed that a case has been registered under the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 106 (causing death by negligence), and Sai Kailash has been apprehended. An ongoing investigation is in progress.
