Chandra Arya: A Champion for Stronger Ties with India, Enters Canadian PM Race

Chandigarh, Jan 10 (NationPress) Born in India, Canadian MP Chandra Arya is taking a stand against Khalistan supporters who are celebrating the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and denouncing the vandalism of Hindu temples across Canada. He has revealed his intention to compete for the leadership of the Liberal Party, pledging to make Canada a 'sovereign republic' through necessary, decisive political actions.
"I am running to be the next Prime Minister of Canada to create a smaller, more effective government aimed at rejuvenating our nation and ensuring prosperity for future generations," Arya stated on the social media platform X, where he was praised by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar as a true advocate for India.
"We are encountering considerable structural challenges not seen in decades, and addressing them will demand difficult choices. I have consistently worked for the welfare of Canadians, and for the benefit of our children and grandchildren, we must pursue bold decisions that are crucial. If elected as the next Leader of the Liberal Party, I will leverage my knowledge and expertise to make it happen," he elaborated in his post.
Recognizing that the country is in the midst of a 'perfect storm', Arya, who met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi last August, remarked, "Many Canadians, particularly the younger generations, are grappling with serious affordability challenges. The working middle class is currently in distress, with numerous families retiring into poverty."
Arya is convinced that India represents a vital and expanding market for Canadian exports and investments, serving as a key source to satisfy our critical talent requirements.
"Canada deserves leadership that embraces making substantial decisions. Decisions that will rebuild our economy, restore hope, create equitable opportunities for all Canadians, and secure a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. Bold political decisions are not just optional; they are imperative.
"Guided by prudence and practicality, I am stepping forward to accept this responsibility and lead Canada as its next Prime Minister," he declared.
Among Arya's key policy initiatives is a proposal to raise the retirement age by two years by 2040 to ensure economic sustainability.
He also plans to implement a citizenship-based tax system, a potentially transformative move for Canada’s financial framework.
Arya's commitment to global justice is reflected in his advocacy for Canada to formally recognize Palestine as a state, aligning with his broader vision for international diplomacy.
He stated that defense investments will focus on addressing Canada's specific needs, from safeguarding maritime interests to protecting trade routes. Inviting people to join his cause, he said, "Let’s rebuild, revitalize, and secure the future. For all Canadians, for generations to come."
