Posting on X in Hindi, CM Sarma framed the increase as a festive gift to Assam ki nari shakti — Assam's women power — saying the enhanced support is 'an effort to become a partner in the happiness and festive preparations of our families.' He closed with a blessing invoking Maa Durga.

Launched in 2020–21, the Orunodoi scheme delivers direct monthly cash transfers to women from low-income households across Assam.
