Madurai, Dec 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, will lead a significant investor summit in Madurai today, aimed at enhancing industrial growth, job creation, and infrastructure development in the southern region of the state.

This summit, themed 'Tamil Nadu is Growing', will feature the signing of 91 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth a total investment of Rs 36,660.35 crore. These initiatives are projected to create direct employment opportunities for 56,766 youth across a variety of sectors.

As stated in an official government press release, this summit stands as one of the largest single-day investment events for the area, showcasing the government’s continued commitment to decentralized industrial growth.

During the event, the Chief Minister will also lay the foundation for a new SIPCOT Industrial Park in Melur, which aims to draw in manufacturing, logistics, and related industries, thereby positioning the district as an emerging industrial hub.

The press release emphasized that significant advancements have been made in the district since the DMK government took office in 2021. Over the past four years, projects totaling Rs 18,795 crore covering 18,881 development works have been accomplished. In terms of welfare, the government has distributed Rs 8,668 crore in direct assistance to 96,55,916 beneficiaries. Since 2021, the total welfare support provided in the district has reached Rs 27,463 crore, demonstrating the administration’s focus on inclusive growth.

On this day, Chief Minister Stalin will also distribute house site pattas to 63,698 beneficiaries, granting legal housing ownership to thousands of families. Furthermore, he will inaugurate completed projects valued at Rs 3,650 crore and lay the groundwork for new initiatives aimed at bolstering the district’s infrastructure.

A significant highlight will be the inauguration of the Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar Flyover at Melamadai Junction, built at a cost of Rs 150.28 crore. This flyover is anticipated to alleviate long-standing traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The government noted that under the Dravidian model of governance, Madurai has experienced rapid and balanced growth since 2021.
